Surveillance video obtained by PEOPLE, obtained by the BBC and provided to MLive.com, reveals Drake’s first public appearance since a well-known woman claiming to be his new girlfriend publicly threatened him with a knife. The 40-year-old rapper was briefly hospitalized in June after Beverly Hills Police responded to a call of a person brandishing a knife at a business in Beverly Hills. Police arrived around 1 a.m. on June 17 and met with the woman, Lisa Brown, a longtime fan of Drake’s who was giving him a tour of a condo and tried to free a painting from the rapper’s hands, as reported by People. The B.H. police arrived in response to reports that a man with a knife was in his Mercedes-Benz and attacking tourists. They are being investigated as felons due to criminal activity they’ve recently engaged in.
Drake’s appearance sparked some backlash from fans and critics, who argued that it was disrespectful to do this on a private business premises. The M.L.K Jr. Auditorium, the location of Drake’s game-day appearance, is home to the Carousel Ballroom for Philanthropy; this was Brown’s first performance of this level at the venue.
After the episode, Drake spent the weekend cruising Los Angeles in a Rolls Royce and mapping out a business trip to Miami.
